We scanned 50 chiropractic practices across the Phoenix metro area, including Phoenix, Scottsdale, Tempe, Mesa, and Chandler, using ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude. Phoenix is the first new city and new industry we've tested outside Austin and Denver, and the results reveal a distinctive pattern: this is almost entirely a ChatGPT-only market.

Of the 6 practices that AI recognized, 5 were mentioned exclusively by ChatGPT and 1 solely by Claude. Gemini returned zero mentions across all 50 practices. The AI platform a patient chooses entirely determines whether any local chiropractor exists in its recommendations.

Methodology

This study is based on structured AI visibility scans conducted in March 2026.

• Sample: 50 chiropractic practices in the Phoenix metro area (top 50 by Google review count)
• Sourcing: practices identified via Google Places API across Phoenix, Scottsdale, Tempe, Mesa, and Chandler, deduplicated by domain and confirmed for active web presence
• Models tested: ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude
• Prompts: natural-language questions about Phoenix chiropractic services (see below), with no prompt engineering or specialty modifiers
• Scoring: each practice received a visibility score (0-100) based on appearance frequency, mention quality, and cross-model consistency

The Questions We Asked AI

We crafted questions that reflect how real patients ask AI for chiropractic care, whether they need back pain relief, a wellness adjustment, or want to compare options across the sprawling Phoenix metro.

Every prompt was sent to all three AI platforms exactly as written. Responses were analyzed for specific practice mentions, recommendation context, and level of detail.

Overall Visibility Findings

Of the 50 chiropractic practices tested, here is how many appeared in AI responses:

44 practices (88%) received zero AI mentions. Not a single chiropractor was recognized by more than one model. Every visible practice exists in exactly one AI platform's awareness, making visibility fragile and platform-dependent.

How Each AI Model Sees the Market

ChatGPT dominates Phoenix chiropractic awareness. Gemini is completely blind to the entire industry in this market:

Google Reviews Have No Impact on AI Recommendations

The pattern we've seen in Austin and Denver holds in Phoenix: Google review counts have no bearing on whether AI recommends a chiropractic practice.

Multi-Model Disagreement

With a 100% disagreement rate, the three AI platforms have entirely separate views of the Phoenix chiropractic market. Not a single practice appeared in more than one model's recommendations.

The disagreement is total. ChatGPT recommends a set of 5 practices. Claude recommends one completely different practice. And Gemini recommends none at all. A patient's choice of AI assistant doesn't just influence which chiropractor they find; it determines whether they find any chiropractor from our sample at all.

Across all AI responses, we identified 48 unique practices mentioned by at least one model. Even though most of our top-50 sample was invisible, AI still recommended chiropractic practices during each prompt — just different ones that were not in our sample.

Most Frequently Recommended Practices

The Joint Chiropractic led with 160 mentions across all AI responses, slightly ahead of the pack. Chiropractic Wellness Center and Phoenix Chiropractic tied at 150 each. The competitive landscape is relatively flat, suggesting no single practice dominates AI's awareness of Phoenix chiropractic care.

AI’s Narrow Lens

According to Healthgrades data, there are approximately 1,200 chiropractors and chiropractic practices operating in the Phoenix metro area. Across all AI responses in this study, the models collectively referenced just 48 unique practice names.

What This Means for Chiropractors

The data paints a clear picture:

• Phoenix chiropractic is a ChatGPT-only story. Five of the six visible practices were recognized exclusively by ChatGPT. Gemini is completely blind to the industry, and Claude sees just one practice that ChatGPT doesn't.
• The scores are remarkably low. The highest score in our sample was just 31/100. No practice broke through to the 40+ range, suggesting chiropractic as a specialty has minimal presence in AI training data for Phoenix.
• Reviews are irrelevant here too. The top-reviewed practice with 1,466 reviews scored zero while The Joint Chiropractic with 403 reviews scored highest. The pattern is now proven across three cities and seven industries.
• The opportunity is wide open. With 88% invisibility and the ceiling at just 31, any chiropractor that achieves strong AI visibility would immediately stand out. There is essentially no competition for AI recommendations in this market.
• Platform fragility is extreme. Every visible practice exists on exactly one AI model. A single model update could wipe out a practice's entire AI presence overnight.
